Mr Al Ansari is an executive with 27 years of experience in the petroleum industry who joined Dragon Oil in March 2011 as Chief Operating Officer. Mr Ansari has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
He has extensive knowledge and background in Gas Processing and Project engineering and has been working at critical and key positions with well-known companies like ARCO International, ENOC, Dolphin Energy and MUBADALA Petroleum Services Co.
Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Mr Al Ansari served as CEO of MUBADALA Petroleum Services Co where he was responsible for the creation of a petroleum services hub in the UAE to serve the MENA and the Caspian region.
Emad Buhulaigah - General Manager of Petroleum Development
Emad is the General Manager, Petroleum Development, at Dragon Oil. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from University of Southern California.
He has over 30 years of experience in Petroleum Engineering, 20 years of which he spent in Reservoir Engineering and Reservoir Simulation at Saudi ARAMCO. He started with Gulf Oil Company, Houston in 1981, during an exchange programme with the University. He joined Aramco in 1982 and was seconded to Chevron during 1988 – 1990. He held management positions in Reservoir Simulation, Reservoir Management at Saudi ARAMCO followed by leading the Saudi Aramco Intelligent Field Initiative. In 2007, Emad moved to Shell E&P as Smart Fields Change Manager and later joined Dragon Oil in December 2009.
Emad is the author and co-author of several papers on Reservoir Simulation and Management. He has actively participated in SPE conferences, symposiums, forums, and organization committees, and as SPE Distinguished Lecturer (2000-2001).
Faisal Rabee Al Awadhi - General Manager, Turkmenistan
Faisal joined Dragon Oil in December 2014 and is based in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. He comes to us with over 32 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Faisal worked as a consultant to international companies in Libya, Erbil Iraq and Kazakhstan. Before that Faisal served as the Director of Demand Management for the Dubai Government and worked on a project to setting up Gulf Petroleum in south of Sudan. Faisal also worked for ANDOC Group of Companies for 13 years, during this period he spent six years as the Production Operation Manager in ADMA-OPCO in charge of giant oil fields (Zakum, and Umm Shaif), processing and exporting in Das Island with more than 10 million barrels storage capacity. Faisal started working with Dubai Petroleum Company in the early 1970s, and was one of the first UAE Nationals to be sent to the USA by Dubai Petroleum Co. to study in the field of Petroleum Engineering.
He holds an HND from Brighton Polytechnic in Industrial Engineering, UK, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Tulsa University Oklahoma, USA, and a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering and Management from the University of Southern California, USA.
Tarun Ohri - Director of Finance
Tarun is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with a CISA qualification. He joined Dragon Oil in 2002. Prior to joining Dragon Oil, he worked for the Emirates National Oil Company LLC (ENOC) for five years. At ENOC he gained a wealth of experience in downstream oil and gas businesses and trading operations in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East rising to the role of Manager, Group Internal Audit.
Prior to joining ENOC, Tarun spent two years with McDermott International gaining extensive experience in project management for offshore marine construction.
He has over 30 years’ experience in the Middle East having worked primarily in oil and gas upstream, downstream and services sector in the UAE and Qatar.
Hussain Al Alaiwy - Director of Human Resources
Hussain holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama, USA.
He comes to Dragon Oil with more than 27 years of experience in operational, engineering and project management from working for Saudi Aramco. During his employment with Saudi Aramco, Hussain had the chance to handle and lead Operation Engineering of Oil Processing and Water Injection facilities in the main area of oil production at Saudi Aramco. He also spent a lot of time working for Operations and Maintenance in same area. Later in his career, he represented clients and was assigned to mega projects, including Khurais development and water injection conversion projects during design, construction and commissioning phases of many projects.
Hussain joined Dragon Oil in 2008, where he was tasked with re-evaluation of the way projects were handled, set up the Engineering Department and defined the responsibilities of both Engineering and Projects departments. In 2009, Hussain moved to manage the Human Resources department; since that time he was able to alleviate the functioning of the Human Resources department to a level in line with international standards.
Mark Sawyer - Business Development and New Ventures Manager
Mr. Sawyer has over 30 years of varied international experience in the energy sector, in senior finance, business development, mergers and acquisitions and business unit management roles.
Previous positions for large multinational energy companies include Managing Director, International LPG business unit; he also served as Vice President of Business Development and earlier as Manager of International Negotiations. Immediately prior to joining Dragon Oil, Mark was Vice President, Business Development with Tatweer Investments and Chief Business Development Officer for Dubai Energy.
Mark has served as a Board Director in various joint venture companies. His international experience encompasses investments in over 20 countries and several expatriate assignments in Asia.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in International Economics and a Master’s Degree in Finance. He is an active member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
Annisa Loadwick - Senior Legal Counsel
Annisa Loadwick joined Dragon Oil in October 2008. Annisa qualified as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland, Australia in 2002 and has spent many years in Dubai. Prior to joining Dragon Oil, she was a partner in a law firm in Dubai where she provided a range of advice for international oil and gas services companies doing business in the Middle East.
She holds an LLB, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Energy and the Environment and is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the Corporate Council Middle East.
Annisa works closely with the General Counsel and Company Secretary as well as providing support and advice to Dragon Oil departments including contracts and purchasing, projects and new business ventures.
Ahmad Assadi - Marketing Manager
Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and MBA in International Finance. He is also a Certified ERP Engineer. He comes to Dragon Oil having worked for over 25 years in engineering, commercial and logistics background within the oil and gas industry with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Group of Companies, such as ADMA-OPCO and Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Limited (ADGAS), Abu Dhabi.
Faisal Al Ansari - Corporate Planning and Purchasing Departments Manager
Faisal has over 30 years of experience in reservoir engineering and field development planning that also includes skills in business performance, corporate planning, purchasing, logistics and marine operations. Faisal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in (B.Sc.) Double Major in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Lewis and Clark College, Portland, USA.
Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Faisal worked for almost 25 years in Zakum Development Company, Abu Dhabi, UAE in different areas with his last position as Upper Zakum Field Development Manager. One of his major achievements during his time with ZADCO was doubling the production from Upper Zakum reservoir in addition to initiation of processes on improving inter-phases with Operations and other headquarter departments in ZADCO.

Ali Al Matar - Contracts Department Manager
Ali is currently the Engineering Department Manager of Dragon Oil since 2010. Prior to joining the Group, Ali worked for Saudi Aramco for more than 30 years where his experience was focused on the gas operation and for the last five years of his career with Saudi Aramco, he was significantly involved with two mega projects from their inception to commissioning. Ali played a pivotal role in design, construction and leading commissioning plan and execution of one of the mega gas processing facilities.
During his career with Saudi Aramco, he had intensive experience and skills with technical evaluations and issues, process optimization in gas plant processing and safety, as well as Loss Prevention compliance reviews. Also, he held the leadership role by holding managerial positions. Ali holds a Master’s Degree in Construction Engineering Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia and has been a member of technical societies such as the Society of Chemical Engineer and Local Chapters.
Nabil Al Ouf - Head of Internal Audit
Nabil is the Head of Internal Audit department at Dragon Oil. He joined the company in 2012 where he established a standalone internal audit department. He has a combined 27 years of solid domestic and global experience in financial management, information systems, regulatory and compliance auditing, business process valuation and design, ERP system implementation and fraud investigation.
Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Nabil held senior positions with global and domestic manufacturing and industrial firms such as Nihon Kohden America, Al Waseet International and Al Ghurair Resources.
Nabil holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Concordia College-USA, and graduate studies in Accounting from Portland State University-USA. He pursued executive education studies at Harvard Business School-USA, in the areas of strategic financial analysis for business valuation, and corporate restructuring mergers and acquisitions. He is also a qualified CRBA, CRMA.
Mohamed Hashem - Reservoir Development Manager
Mohamed Hashem is currently the Reservoir Development Manager for Dragon Oil responsible for Reservoir Engineering and Subsurface Development of Dragon Oil fields around the world.
Mohamed joined Dragon Oil from Shell after having worked there for 25 years. His last assignment was in Kazakhstan as the New Technology Manager for the North Caspian Operating Company working on bringing challenging technology to develop the giant Kashagan field and its satellites, seconded from Shell. Previously he was Shell’s Regional Technology Manager for the Middle East, Caspian, and South East Asia. Mohamed was also Shell’s Principal Technical Expert (PTE) for formation testing and sampling. This is the highest technical level achievable in Shell short of a chief scientist.
Mohamed earned his BS Mechanical Engineering degree from Ain-Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1980; an MS Petroleum Engineering degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 1987; and a DE degree in 1990 in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University.
Mohamed joined Shell in 1990, and worked on shelf and deepwater Gulf of Mexico exploration, development and production projects including Shell’s flagship Auger project (1st deepwater project). For the last 12 years, Mohamed worked on global Shell projects from Australia to Norway. Before 1990, he worked for Schlumberger and was lecturer at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Throughout his career, he has worked on major projects in the Far and Middle East, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas. Author of 16 patents, numerous publications, and chaired many major SPE conferences.
Stefano Santoni - Exploration Manager
Stefano is a geologist with 35 years of international oil industry experiences gained through various assignments in Libya, Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, the USA, the UK and the UAE during which he enjoyed living and working in multi-cultural environments.
Stefano has the experience of working through the full exploration-to-development cycle in many basins worldwide for oil companies, including oil majors as well as small independent oil producers. He was instrumental in discovery of significant oil and gas fields in Libya, Egypt, Argentina, Ghana, Australia and Trinidad.
Stefano has a Master of Science Degree in Geology from University of Firenze, Italy. Stefano is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB) and The Geological Society, UK.
Igor Morgunov - Acting Project Department Manager
Igor has over 30 years’ experience in oil and critical sour gas processing, pipeline operations, and facility design/construction project management. After graduation, Igor joined Shell Canada in the gas department and held various technical/project positions. Subsequently, Igor worked for Pan Canadian as Project Manager for various drilling/development projects in Canada and was seconded to the International Exploration team in Central Asia and Russia.
Igor’s diverse background includes working on large scale EPC projects as Engineering and Project Manager for VECO (CH2MHill) for clients such as BP and Rosneft. Most recently Igor was working for Lauren Engineers and Constructors as Project Manager on gas processing EPC projects for clients such as Pembina Gas Services and Nexen. Igor holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and is a member of APEGGA.
Mahmoud Vaziri - Acting Engineering Manager
Mahmoud joined Dragon Oil in April 2009 and is based in our headquarters in Dubai. He comes to Dragon Oil with over 30 years of experience in the field of offshore structures and their integrity management and project engineering activities.
Mahmoud started his career in London as an offshore structural engineer at Kvaerner Earl & Wright in 1986 and was instrumental in analysis and design of many North Sea offshore structures. Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Mahmoud worked for Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company ADMA-OPCO for 12 years where he was the Subject Matter Expert in his field, worked on many greenfield and brownfield projects, was the company representative on installation barges and helped to establish the Structural Integrity Management System in the company. Since 2009, Mahmoud has taken the lead to establish Structural, Pipeline and Corrosion Management System and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems at Dragon Oil. Integrity assessment of old pre-PSA platforms in the Caspian Sea and their strengthening to meet the current codes and standards have been some of Mahmoud’s responsibilities.
Mahmoud holds a BSc Degree in Civil and Municipality Engineering and an MSc in Ocean Engineering from University College of London.
Maurizio Fico - Drilling Manager
Dr Oleksandr Chechotkin - Abandonment and Decommissioning Projects Manager
Oleksandr is a Chartered Engineer. He has a Master’s degree and PhD in Hydro Machinery from Kharkov Polytechnic University, Ukraine. Oleksandr has over 35 years’ engineering experience having worked for oil-related industries in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Middle East.
He joined Dragon Oil in 2005 with extensive knowledge and experience in engineering, scientific and offshore design, construction, installation and commissioning work. He held management positions in Engineering and Construction, Projects and Corporate Planning. Currently he is Abandonment and Decommissioning Projects Manager.
Oleksandr is the author and co-author of several articles in hydro machinery.
Jasim Mohammed - IT Manager
Jasim holds an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Zayed University and Higher Diploma in Information Systems from Higher Colleges of Technology. He has more than 20 years of experience in leading and managing IT departments as well as corporate shared services departments.
Before joining Dragon Oil, Jasim was a Director-Corporate Services in a Semi Government Organization in Dubai. He managed the support functions of the organization, which included IT, procurement, corporate communication, administration and HR department. Some of his main job responsibilities were to develop and implement the IT strategy, plans, policies and procedures as well as plan and manage the company voice and data services between headquarters and the field.
Jasim joined Dragon Oil as Information Technology Manager with the IT Department in 2012 and he is based in Dubai.
Rashid Redjepov - Deputy General Manager, Turkmenistan
Rashid trained as an economist at the Turkmen Institute of National Economy (Ashgabat), Turkmenistan at the Department of International Economic Relations (1990–1995).
After graduation in 1995 Rashid worked two years for the Ministry of foreign economic relations of Turkmenistan and since 1997 he has been working in various sectors of the upstream oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan. His roles were both in the public and private sectors.
Rashid joined Dragon Oil in October 2007 as a Consultant on contractual and economic issues for Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. In this role, he was responsible for reviewing contracts, economical calculations and financial reports under the PSA, legal consulting and providing support for different issues related with implementation of the PSA. In November 2008, Rashid was appointed Country Manager for Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. He is now Deputy General Manager for Turkmenistan.
Eldar Kazimov - Deputy General Manager, Turkmenistan
Eldar graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Turkmenistan and the TISBI University of Russia with an Honours Degree in Petroleum Engineering and Management.
He joined Dragon Oil in 2002 as Production Operator and worked for two years at Offshore Production Facilities, then was promoted to Production Analyst position where he was responsible for crude oil measurement and production analysis and reporting.
In 2005, he was promoted to an Onshore Production Supervisor position and was in charge of onshore production operations such as crude oil processing, measurement and lifting. Therefore, Eldar had several years’ experience in field operations before being appointed as Country Manager in November 2008 and is now Deputy General Manager for Turkmenistan.
Farriz Mashudi - Company Secretary
Farriz read Law at Oxford University and holds a LLM in International Business Law from the University of London. She qualified as a UK Barrister and joined Dragon Oil from an English law firm. Her 18 years of oil & gas industry experience was gained from in-house Legal and Corporate roles with Shell, Petronas and Qatar Petroleum, including as Board Secretary for several Group subsidiaries. From a corporate and commercial legal practise Farriz’ career in oil & gas first started in FPSO procurement contracts.
Farriz joined Dragon Oil from an international English law firm based in Dubai and was appointed Company Secretary for Dragon Oil plc on 14 January 2015. As Senior Legal Counsel (Contracts) within the Legal Department she oversees legal aspects of Dragon Oil’s contracting and purchasing activities.
She holds a BA in Jurisdiction from Oxford University, LLM in International Business Law from the University of London and is a qualified UK Barrister.
George Batrinca - Field Production Operations Manager, Turkmenistan
George joined Dragon Oil in February 2014 as Field Manager and is based in Hazar, Turkmenistan. George holds PhD in Petroleum Engineering from University of Oil & Gas Ploiesti, Romania and he has almost 27 years of oil & gas experience with reputed international companies such as OMV and Petrom, Conoco Phillips, Petrofac and Expert Petroleum.
George has extensive management and hands-on-experience in oil & gas projects management, asset management, production operations management, production enhancement, integrated field development, field development planning, mature assets re-development, reservoir engineering, drilling field operations, field development, surface production facilities management, offshore/onshore operations management, technical engineering, and asset integrity management.
Mohammed Al Suwail - Field Production Operations Manager, Turkmenistan
Mohammed joined Dragon Oil in 2010 to establish and lead the field operations engineering department and develop operational procedures. Prior to Dragon Oil, Mohammed spent 25 years working for Saudi Aramco. During his employment with Saudi Aramco, Mohammed was handling and leading Operation Engineering of Oil Processing and Water Injection facilities in the main area of oil production at Saudi Aramco. He also worked for Operations and Maintenance.
Since joining joined Dragon Oil in 2010 Mohammed successfully lead the commissioning of the CPF phase – II project and improved the company’s practices in line with oil international standards.
In 2012, he was moved to onshore operations as an onshore operation superintendent where he had contributed to the improvement of the operational process, onshore upgrading and designing. Recently Mohammed moved to the Field Production Operation Manager position.
Mohammed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona, USA.
Kheder Mekha - Field manager, Turkmenistan
Prior to joining Dragon Oil Kheder worked for Alfourat Petroleum Company in Syria in Altheyem Field in the Mechnical section in the Central Processing Facility. He was then promoted to be Head of central workshop responsible for repairing all rotating equipment, electrical valve testing and fabrication. He then became Head of the Technical Services Department, expanding his responsibilities to include instrumentation, static equipment inspection, corrosion and commissioning sections.
In 2003, Kheder joined Dragon Oil as a Field Manager, then worked in the Group’s Marine department and Maintenance department before returning to his position of a Field Manager.
Kheder holds a Bachelor degree as mechanical engineer from Syria/Aleppo University.
Mousa Jaafar AlEid - Field Construction and Services Manager, Turkmenistan
Prior joining Dragon Oil in 2014, Mousa had worked for 27 years for Saudi Aramco. He started as a production engineer for offshore fields, after seven years he moved to Field Operations where he spent four years. He later moved to working on the pProduction facilities and development as an engineering supervisor and in 2006 he was promoted to a general supervisor to all offshore fields and onshore northern Area fields facilities. In 2008, Mousa transferred to Projects as Projects Manager on all onshore well tie-ins projects in Saudi Aramco. Then he worked as a Senior Manager on Mega Projects to handle upstream two offshore gas fields from September 2009 till he applied for early retirement at the end of 2012.
On May 2014, Mousa Joined Dragon Oil/DOTL as Construction Manager and in January 2015 after re-organization in the field he became the Field Manager for Construction and Services.
John Wood - Health, Safety and Environment Manager, Turkmenistan
John is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety. He holds the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Diploma Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety.
John has almost 20 years of experience of working in various countries, including Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Qatar and the UAE on both onshore and offshore projects, which included construction of oil and gas rigs, seismic work in a desert, construction of plants.
His responsibilities in these projects covered:
ensuring safe working practises;
ensuring adherence to all project-related safety procedures;
site inspections to ensure no unsafe working practices through Risk and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments;
conduct of unsafe act audits;
presentation through toolbox talks and safety inductions;
monitoring accident and illness statistics and trends;
performance of incident investigations and preparation of reports;
determination of Permit-to-Work procedures;
monitoring of the lockout / tag out for electrical / process systems;
quarterly HSE Steering Team meetings on site and client monthly HSE meetings;
setting up of the PAT system;
monitoring of emergency drills involving medical teams; and
training fire teams in the correct use of fire extinguishers and how to evacuate people from a smoke-filled confined space safely.
One of the projects in the UAE on Borouge 2 combined four different projects during whichh at the peak over 22,000 people were working on the site. John's role was to lead all aspects of safety to ensure the project complied with the current UAE legislation and best working practices. The record for safe working hours on the project was 58.2 million hours combined for all four projects. The project John was overseeing achieved over 37 million safe man hours - a record among the four projects.
Ian Fletcher - Health, Safety and Environment Manager, Turkmenistan
Ian has over 23 years’ experience in the Health, Safety and Environmental fields within the oil and gas industry, having been involved in both onshore and offshore production facilities and extensive pipeline networks. Ian’s last position was with Dubai Supply Authority based in Dubai and there he had 14 successful years during which the company attained many notable first positions for HSE performance.
Although experienced in the HSE field Ian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, which allows an excellent understanding of process equipment and potential hazards associated with these processes. He also holds a NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management and a NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, which in combination with the technical knowledge make a perfect match to allow the management of hazards and associated risks within the organisation. This mix of skills has been instrumental in allowing Ian to make significant contributions towards a safer, healthier workplace at all his previous appointments. He has extensive experience of developing and delivering HSE training courses relevant to the operational needs of the organisation.
Ephraim Ebodaghe - Country Manager, Afghanistan
Ephraim joined Dragon Oil in 2013 and is based in Dubai and Mazar-i-Sharif. He holds a Bachelor degree in Physics and Surveying from University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He comes with 25 years of experience with Schlumberger in various positions and in different regions.
Some of his roles included General Manager – Caspian region and Shared Service Centre Manager-North Sea. Ephraim is well-experienced in managing large projects, directing marketing strategies, delivering support through driving and implementing business processes. Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Ephraim worked as Vice President – Schlumberger, Turkmenistan where he was responsible for the implementation of business strategies, forecasting and budget planning, leadership of the team to establish and manage start-up operations in Turkmenistan and management of various segments and services of the related business unit.
Hesham El Meligy - Country Manager, Egypt
Hubert Mainitz - Country Manager, Algeria
Hubert joined Dragon Oil in October 2015 and is based in Algeria. He has more the 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. Prior to joining Dragon Oil, Hubert worked as a consultant to international companies. Before that Hubert served at E.ON E&P in several functions, as COO for a Brazilian subsidiary of E.ON, as for a North African subsidiary of E.ON. Hubert also worked for an American company in Algeria on an exploration and development project. Hubert started his career for a German Drilling contractor, on- and offshore, working in more than 15 countries.
He holds Diplom Ingenieur (Dipl.Ing.) from the Technical University of Clausthal, Germany.
